How does Azep Work?

Azep contains an antihistamine called Azelastin Hydrochloride. This antihistamine work by stopping the release of the chemical histamine after the body experiences an allergic reaction. Histamine is the chemical which causes the symptoms of allergic reaction in the body. By blocking histamine production you reduce the symptoms of allergy and hayfever. It also contains a anti-inflammatory which helps reduce the swelling and inflammation in the nasal passage making it easier to breath.

How do I use it?

Azelastine Hydrochloride 0.1% w/v
Contains 70 doses

Simply spray one puff up each nostril twice a day.it should take around 20 minutes to feel relief which will last up to 12 hours.

You can take this nasal spray with other antihistamine tablets
just be sure not to go over the recommended daily dosage on the active ingredients.

Are there any side effects?

As with every medicine there may be side effects, these are usual mild to moderate and nature and go away. If you experience any side effects which persist or become more intense in nature be sure to contact your doctor or pharmacist. Side effects may include:
  • Bitter Taste
  • Headaches
  • Somnolence
  • Nasal Burning
  • Rhinitis
  • Drowsiness.- Although azep is non drowsy, some people may experience drowsiness - if you experience this side effect do not operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle.
Warnings and Precautions:

Bitter taste, headache, somnolence, nasal burning and rhinitis are the most commonly reported adverse events. However, in large patient studies, the discontinuation rates (2.2%) due to adverse events while taking AZEPr Nasal Spray were not significantly different than those for placebo (2.8%). 

Other adverse events that occurred in seasonal allergic rhinitis patients 5 to 11 years of age treated with AZEPr Nasal Spray and that were not similarly represented in the adult population include rhinitis/cold symptoms, cough, and conjunctivitis.
