What is loratadine?

It is a long acting antihistamine that works by blocking the bodies production of histamine so it can not produce an allergic reaction. The body produces histamine when it experience foreign substances like pollens, animal bites or dust which it is allergic to. By Blocking histamine you block the bodies reaction to allergies.

"How do I use it?"
Adults: One tablet daily (10mg).
Children 2 - 12 years over 30kg: One tablet daily (10mg).
Children 2 - 12 years under 30kg: Half a tablet daily (5mg).

"Are there any Contraindications?"
Hypersensitivity to loratadine or any of the excipients.

"Are there any Precautions?"
Do not exceed recommended dose.
The safe use of Loratadine tablets in children under 1 year or in pregnant or breast-feeding mothers has not been established.
People with liver disease should seek medical advice before taking this medicine.
Although this medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery, a few people may be impaired and care should be taken.

Adverse Effects (Common) Headache, sedation, fatigue, dry mouth.
