How does the optifast diet work?

The average person burns around 2000 calories a day, In the first Phases of the optifast VCLD Program you reduce you calorie intake to under 800 calories per day and start to burn stored fat, as you lose more weight your gradually introduce balanced meals.

The optifast diet has in four phases.

  • Phase One -  Intensive Phase The total daily calorie intake is around 800 Cal per day
    • 3 Optifast VLCD Shakes, Desserts, Bars or Soups
    • 2 Litres of Water +
    • 2 Cups Low Starch Vegetables + 1 Tsp of Oil
  • Phase Two - Transition Phase. The total daily calorie intake is 800-880 kcals per day
    • 2 Optifast VLCD Shakes, Desserts, Bars or Soups
    • 2 Litres of Water + 2 Cups Low Starch Vegetables
    • 2 Fruit serves
    • 1 Low Calorie Meal (500 Calories)
  • Phase 3 - Maintenance Phase
    • 1 Optifast VLCD Shakes, Desserts, Bars or Soups
    • 2 Litres of Water
    • 2 Cups Low Starch Vegetables
    • 2 Fruit serves
    • 2 Low Calorie Meals breakfast (approx. 350 calories) and dinner (approx. 500 calories)
  • Phase Four: Stabilisation Phase
    • Optifast products are eliminated The total calorie intake is approximately 1200 calories
    • 2 Litres of Water
    • 2 Cups Low Starch Vegetables
    • 3 Low Calorie Meals* (approximately 1200 calories; 350 kcal in the morning, 350 kcal at lunchtime and 500 kcal in the evening.)
Directions for use: Simply add one sachet of Optifast Strawberry Milkshake mix into 200mL of cold water. Stir, blend or shake the liquid until the contents of the sachet are fully dissolved. Do not use boiling water. Add more water if you would prefer a larger shake or a more diluted taste. The colder the water, the better the taste, You can also vary the flavour by adding fruit to the shake such as strawberry, mango or banana.
