How does it work?

It is an antihistamine which works by blocking the chemical in the body that is released when an allergic reaction occurs. This chemical called histamine causes the symptoms of allergic reaction in the body so taking antihistamine you can reduce the symptoms of allergies on the body.

Cetirizine Hydrochloride.

Other allergy Products that Contain Cetirizine Hydrochloride Include: Zyrtec, Zirtec, cetirizine, APO Cetirizine, Reactine.

Children 2-6 - 2.5ml twice a day or 5ml once a day
Adults and Children over 6 - 5ml twice a day or 10ml once a day

Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 20mg per day unless otherwise advised by your doctor.

Are there any side effects?

As with every medicine there may be side effects, these are usual mild to moderate and nature and go away. If you experience any side effects which persist or become more intense in nature be sure to contact your doctor or pharmacist. Side effects may include: Dry Mouth, Fatigue, Drowsiness, Sore Throat, Stomach Pain,  (if you experience drowsiness do not drive or operate heavy machinery.

Cautions or Warnings?
Adverse Effects
In Zyrtec studies, side effects were mild or moderate, including drowsiness, fatigue and dry mouth in adults, and drowsiness, headache, sore throat and stomach pain in children. Drowsiness occurred in between 11% and 14% in adults, depending on dose, compared to 6% taking placebo. In children, drowsiness occurred in between 2% and 4%, depending on dose, compared to 1% taking placebo. Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Zyrtec allergy treatment

Consult a Doctor or Pharmacist Before Using If:
  • You are pregnant
  • You are breastfeeding.
  • You have kidney or liver problems
  • You are over 60 years old
  • You are taking anti depressants
  • You are taking Tranquillizers, Muscle Relaxants or Anti Depressants.
Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication
Do not use with any other products containing ceterizine.
